The Buster K910B Density Meter is one contraband detector Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) is most proud of. This is contraband detector assists law enforcement agencies doing their job of locating and confiscating contraband items such as illegal drugs and other substances, weapons, cash, or radioactive materials.

This is how it basically works: The Buster K910B Density Meter, also known as “The Buster,” uses a low intensity gamma radiation emitter and scintillation detector. This is able to quickly scan concealments through a variety of materials such as wood, metal or reinforced plastics. It identifies hidden contraband items, without externally damaging the surfaces or the items that are being detected. This is something that millimeter wave, radio wave, ultra-violet or microwave detector tools cannot do or do as easily and reliably.

The Buster is normally used to scan vehicles suspected of carrying forbidden, illegal, or stolen items. It also can be used elsewhere such as in buildings and residences as well as inspecting shipping containers.

Many people, especially the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers and law enforcement agencies, have found the Buster to be one of the best tools available for the detection of contraband on the market today. In fact, most people who have used it view it as the “gold standard” of detection devices.

How did this great contraband detection tool come into being? CSECO’s founder Patrick Campbell founded the company in 1984. He was asked by the US Customs and Border Protection to invent a contraband detection device that wasn’t limited to detecting one particular item and would be able to locate a variety of materials hidden underneath different types of surfaces. So Campbell collaborated with the CBP to develop and design an early version of today’s world-renowned Buster K910B Density Meter.

The Buster displays pertinent and accurate visual and audible information to alert the law enforcement/Customs and Border Protection officers of the presence of contraband items. The contraband could be illegal substances, currency, weapons, and any other material. Then the interdiction officers will confiscate the materials so that they can be kept off the streets.

The addition to the Buster includes radiation detection with the Rad-Aware® technology. Rad-Aware® allows first responders to detect and locate the presence of abnormal quantities of radiation. In this way, interdiction officers would be able to establish a safe zone and keep other people out of harm’s way.

The Buster K910B Density Meter, equipped with Rad-Aware®, can locate the following types of contraband: illegal drugs, alcohol, cash, explosives and “dirty bombs”, cigarettes, anything radioactive, and anything that is kept in a concealed compartment.

The Buster is the trusted equipment among law enforcement agencies, interdiction officers as well as US Customs and Border Protection officers. These people know the effectiveness of the Buster to accurately locate possible contraband items. Without this tool, their job would be much more difficult.
